Problem
A Chair and CEO needed to deploy a new and complex strategy requiring a corporate reorganisation and unanimous board approval. The board of directors were sceptical and disengaged about embarking on partially formed proposals. Our strategic advisory input was requested to help them chart the new course and reach implementation.
Actions taken
We used mediation to get to the root of the issues causing consternation for the board. We identified the path for the CEO to simplify the proposals and communicate them to the board outside of a formal meeting. We constructed a governance framework to map and mitigate risk and proposed innovative financial solutions to address the Board’s primary concerns.
Outcomes
We worked with the board and wider leadership team to implement the proposals following board approval and to ensure that the operational framework was sufficient for sustainable operations going forward. We added value by identifying the cultural issues and made recommendations to improve operational performance.
